Art historian Rolf Achilles will explore the characteristic architecture and interiors of several important Gilded Age mansions designed by W. August Fiedler. One of three designers responsible for the interiors of our very own Nickerson mansion, Fiedler also designed the 1874 Hegeler Carus mansion in LaSalle, Illinois, a National Historic Landmark.

The Nickerson Lecture Series explores the social milieu in which Samuel M. Nickerson lived and the principles in art, architecture, and design that governed the creation of this remarkable home. This year’s series will focus on the preeminent designers who created the magnificent interiors of the Nickerson Mansion.
