Special Jewelry Conference

This one day conference, focusing on 20th century art jewelry, will cover jewelry trends, materials and function as a window into the study of material culture, politics, social change, and world events during the tumultuous time beginning a new century. Speakers will situate this wearable art form within a variety of historical and social contexts, the decorative arts, and fashion.

Yvonne Markowitz, Emily Banis Stoerher, Rita J. Kaplan and Susan B. Kaplan Curator of Jewelry, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Elyse Zorn Karlin, Guest Curator, Maker & Muse: Women and Early 20th Century Art Jewelry, Sharon Darling, Chicago Historian and author, Janis Staggs, Assistant Curator Neue Galerie, and author, Annamarie Sandecki, Corporate Archivist, Tiffany & Co, Darcy Evon,  Historian and author, William Tyre, Executive Director and Curator, Glessner House Museum, Suzanne Flynt, Curator of Memorial Hall Museum, Deerfield, MA. 

The conference will take place in the carriage house of The Glessner House Museum, 1800 S. Prairie Avenue, Chicago, IL 60616. The fee includes a continental breakfast.
