By popular request, our next travel tour takes us to Libertyville, IL to visit the MacLean Collection of Asian art. This exclusive behind the scenes tour led by Dr. Richard A. Pegg, the collection’s Director and Curator of Asian Art, explores the private collection of Barry MacLean which seeks out the best and unique examples of Chinese and Southeast Asian objects that can be displayed and studied. Additionally the tour will include the opportunity to visit the MacLean Collection of Maps which consists of more than 35,000 maps dating from the fifteenth century through today.

Following the walk through of the MacLean Collection, we will have lunch and then travel to the Chicago Botanic Gardens for a tram tour of the garden’s beautiful grounds. Afterward, you will have a chance to explore independently (be sure to pay particular attention to the gorgeous and intricate 17-acre lakeside Japanese Garden).

Due to the anticipated popularity of this travel tour, there are two dates to choose from. Fee includes guided tours, lunch, and round-trip transportation by motor coach from the Driehaus Museum. For questions about accessibility during the tours please call 312-482-8933, ext. 21.

Please note that in exchange for your reservation and/or ticket, you have authorized the Driehaus Museum to photograph, record, film, video tape, or otherwise use your likeness, performance, image, and/or voice for use in general and/or program-related Driehaus Museum promotional materials. If for any reason, you do not wish to be photographed, please provide your name(s) at registration that day.
