Join us in welcoming Francine Segan, culinary historian, chef, and author in a discussion on “The Art and Artifice of Dining”.  Ms. Segan will elucidate the finer points of dinner etiquette, elaborate dishes, and elegant parties during the time period of Downton Abbey. She will discuss proper social etiquette such as popular toasts of the era with which to clink glasses the appropriate time to remove gloves or tip your hat. You and your friends will be experts in hosting your own elegant, Edwardian-age dinner party after this event!

Francine Segan is one of America’s foremost experts on culinary history. She is a James Beard nominated author of six books and a regular on the Food Network, PBS, Discovery and History Channels. She is the host of the television show “American’s Who Love Italy” and is often a featured expert in USA Today and The New York Times.

At this event, we are pleased to have Calvisius Caviar offering a taste of caviar for each guest.

Each author event will be a 45 minute illustrated presentation followed by a Q&A and book signing. Tickets include a light breakfast.  Tickets will not include Museum admission.  Guests who would like to continue their morning and view Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times it is recommended that they purchase a 10 or 10:30 a.m. timed entry admission ticket separately prior to arrival. The Chicago Milliners Collective will host an exclusive trunk show at each event featuring several area hat-makers and their beautiful creations. Books will be available for purchase before the event in the Driehaus Museum Store. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.

Refunds and exchanges are permitted up to 24 hours in advance of the program start time or exhibition admission time by calling 312-482-8933, ext. 21 or in person at the Driehaus Museum. Program and exhibition tickets are non-refundable within 24 hours of the program start time or the exhibition entry time.

Please note that in exchange for your reservation and/or ticket, you have authorized the Driehaus Museum to photograph, record, film, video tape, or otherwise use your likeness, performance, image, and/or voice for use in general and/or program-related Driehaus Museum promotional materials. If for any reason, you do not wish to be photographed, please provide your name(s) at registration that evening.
