The Chicago Jazz Orchestra presents a talented trio of performers—Art Davis on trumpet and flugelhorn, Pete Benson on piano, and Dennis Carroll on bass—paying tribute to one of the greatest innovators of jazz, Miles Davis. The trio will focus on the music that Davis created in the mid- to late-1950s, when his music was synonymous with “cool” and his recordings of American Songbook standards regularly topped the jazz charts.
This program is presented in partnership with the Chicago Jazz Orchestra Organization. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the performance commences at 6:30 p.m.
About the Performers
The Chicago Jazz Orchestra (CJO) was founded in 1978 as the Jazz Members Big Band by Jeff Lindberg and the late Steve Jensen. Composed of Chicago’s top musicians, the CJO is Chicago’s oldest professional jazz orchestra in continuous operation and one of the oldest jazz orchestras in the country. Like the mansion and the collection that is housed in the Driehaus Museum, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra has a long, impressive, and artistic history.
