The 10 Most Compelling Historic Preservation Reads

Last week the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s blog, Preservation Nation, came out with a list of books, the start to an ongoing “Essential Preservation Reading List.” Beginners, enthusiasts, and everyone in between should be able to find something to enjoy here. A sample of titles: Sustainable Preservation: Greening Existing Buildings, Historic Preservation and the Livable City, and What Style Is It? A Guide to American Architecture. You can find the rest here.
Book jacket pictured is Notre Dame professor and ICAA fellow Steven W. Semes’ The Future of the Past: A Conservation Ethic for Architecture, Urbanism, and Historic Preservation (W.W. Norton & Co.).
