Best of Both: Maker & Muse and Museum Highlights

Created in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the jewelry of Maker & Muse and the Driehaus Museum itself illuminate the artistic ideals defining every facet of design—from self-adornment to architecture, interiors, and fine art—during this period.

This special one-hour guided tour begins with highlights of the Museum’s history, architecture, and collection, illuminating design tenets that blended inspiration from art movements all over the world. Arriving in the second-floor galleries, the art jewelry of Maker & Muse represents the culmination of their individual artist-makers’ visions. Each carefully handcrafted jewelry work also preserves the unique story about the women who played a crucial role in its inspiration or creation.
